Patmos
Patmos belongs to the
Dodecanese, a group of twelve islands stretching along the SE corner of
the Aegean Archipelago, across the coast of Asia Minor. The designations
and legends associated with early Patmos easily override the sparse
documentation available, which is often woven around the fortunes of
dominant city-states, such as Miletus and Rhodes. Deer-huntress Artemis
loomed ubiquitous throughout the pre-Christian Eras down to the 11th
century A.D., in the same way that the acts and deeds attributed to St.
John decisively molded the course of history from Roman times onwards.
Material culture is shaped accordingly, in that the renowned monastery
of St. John the Divine, or "Theologian," is erected on the very bedrock
that gave lodging to sacred Artemis, her cult and sanctuary.

Smirne -Izmir
İzmir,
historically
Smyrna, is the
third most populous city of
Turkey and the
country's largest port after
İstanbul. It is
located in the
Gulf of İzmir, by
the
Aegean Sea. It is
the capital of
İzmir
Province.

Alexander the
Great
Alexander the
Great
re-founded the city in about 300 BC.
Alexander had defeated the Persians in
several
battles and
finally the emperor
Darius
himself at
Issus
in 333 BC. The cities of the region
witnessed a
great resurgence
in their population. During this period,
Rhodes
and
Pergamon
reached populations of
over
100,000.
Ephesus,
Antioch
and
Alexandria
reached a population of over 400,000.
Old Smyrna,
which had been
founded on a small hill, was only
sufficient for a few thousand people, so
the new and
larger city had
been founded on the slopes of
Mount Pagos
(Kadifekale)
in 300 BC. The flat-topped hill
seemed destined by
nature to be the
acropolis
of an ancient city.

Mikonos
Mykonos is now
the most cosmopolitan island in the world, more famous than Capri,
more
fashionable than Hawaii.

Santorini

It has
been said that the sunsets in Santorini are the best in the world. From
the Caldera breathtaking views of the volcano & neighbouring islands.
From the east, miles of dark sandy or pebbled beaches. Everywhere one
sees small domed churches and remnants of days gone by.
